If the limited run of exclusive prop-filled Coraline x Nike Dunks weren’t special enough, fifteen of the world’s top retailers have been given the ultimate Coraline tribute with a special wooden collector’s box. The collector box includes a special key in addition to a high-quality box filled with a print seen on the under portion of the lid. The Coraline movie is the most recent release 3-D animated release from film-makers LAIKA and is currently showing at select theaters.
Nike continues their alliance with the O.G. skate heads on their classic Blazer models. Last year we saw the Lance Mountain/ Craig Stecyk sneakers and this latest Blazer release graces a design by O.G. Alva Team rider and Chicago skate legend, Stevie “Dread” Snyder. The kicks receive the Windy City treatment, emblazoned with a Chicago flag inspired color scheme in a buttery suede finish. Chi-town’s Uprise Skateboards will be hosting a special release party alongside Stevie, whom has been involved with Uprise since their beginnings in ‘97. Uprise will receive an exclusive for a couple weeks, launching them Saturday February, 28th (8pm-12am) while other select SB accounts will receive their shipment in mid-March.

The dark illustrated style of Japanese artist USUGROW alongside Vans will culminate in a three-sneaker release next month. In a pack that features the SK-8 HI, AV Low and Half-Cab, the pack embodies many of USUGROW’s iconic traits. The sole use of black comes to the forefront with little contrast offered. Embroidered motifs make up the sides with his cryptic imagery seen along the side of the Vulcanized banding. The collection will begin hitting retailers in early March.
As Winter ends so do the constant rotation of bland and muted colors in your wardrobe. With this in mind, Nike unveils a particularly eye catching colorway of their Nike Air Trainer III LE shoes. The mid tops start with a canvas of charcoal and navy blue and adds on a snake skin design that graces the front of the shoe. The most eye-popping aspect is the weaving of neon yellow, dubbed “Volt” by Nike, splashing the sole, air bubble, tongue, upper eyelets and most importantly the iconic swoosh. These trainers are apart of a pack dropping in early April in boutiques with Quickstrike accounts for $110.
Nike Sportswear continue on the theme of subtle safari on their iconic Dunk High seen here. While the most recent instance of the safari print x Dunk version brought a bold fuchsia/purple colorway to the fold, things are decidedly more toned down this time around. A black-upper is hit with just the slightest bit of color in the form of a blue Swoosh. White tongue and laces also provide a bit of contrast. With the massive success of America’s present-day leader Barack Obama involved in a recent issue of Marvel Comics’ Spider-Man, the presidential theme was too good to pass up for the 2009 President’s Day holiday celebrated on February 16th. A man who has been the focus of many parallels with Obama himself, former president Abraham Lincoln is the latest real-world personality to cross-over into the realm of comics in issue no. 583 of “Gettysburg Distress”. Given the popularity of the print versions of the Barack Obama which subsequently saw the comics change hands through numerous 3rd party sellers, Marvel is offering this upcoming issue for free online (via sign-up) at Marvel.com.
